Respirator Fit Test

Respirator Fit Testing is done to ensure a mask fits properly around someone’s face and provides proper protection. This is important to ensure harmful environmental toxins do not leak into the mask. Facial hair, weight gain/loss, face shape, etc can affect how a mask fits an individual.

Fit testing is used in a variety of different industries including but not limited to healthcare, construction and manufacturing. There are many different kinds of fit tests depending if you are exposed to an oil based, water based or particulate toxic environment. We currently do fit testing using a variety of N-95 mask. Individuals or companies are welcome to bring any type or NIOSH certified mask they currently use on the job or select one of the various N95 masks we provide.

All fit testing done by SmarTest Labs are OSHA compliant and the medical evaluation questionnaire (MEQ) is reviewed by our medical director.

Titer Testing

What is a titer? A titer is a simple blood draw to determine if someone still has antibodies to a particular vaccine, the covid antibody test is a titer for either covid or the covid vaccine.

Titers are used in many different environments for e.g. organizations that rely heavily on treating patients like hospitals, organizations exposed to potential blood or contact exposure. Titers keeps everyone safe from disease like Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, Measels, Mumps and Rubella and other potential diseases that have a high exposure of spreading easily and quickly. Any organization can request titers for these reasons.

Titers we do
1. MMR
2. Hepatitis B
3. Varicella
4. TDap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
5. Tuberculosis

This test is conducted as a simple blood draw called QuantiFERON TB Gold test. The QuantiFERON TB Gold Test is a better test, as the donor does not need to return to the lab to get results unlike the skin test that requires the donor to return to the lab for further observation. This method is less intrusive than the skin test as the skin needs to be punctured to get a reaction to the bacteria.

Vaccination and Immunization

Vaccination and Immunization

Vaccination & Immunization are subtly different from each other. Vaccination is the process of  providing a person a vaccine to protect them from diseases. Immunization is the process of a person being protected from disease after vaccination.

Vaccines have provided significant protection to several diseases. At SmarTest Labs we provide vaccines for the most important diseases that can be avoided and are highly contagious.

Tdap

Tetanue

Tetanus enters the body through a cut or wound in the body and causes muscle stiffness, stiff jaw, breathing problems and heart failure.

Diphtheria

Diphtheria issues with breathing, heart failure and could lead to death and paralysis.

Pertussis (whooping cough)

Pertussis causes sever coughing causing a person having difficulty breathing, eating and doing daily functions. If left unattended it can cause brain damage or death.

Measles, Mumps & Rubella

CDC recommends that children should receive 2 doses of the vaccination at 12 and 15 months. This vaccine immunizes a person for life against the disease.

Dosages of the vaccine can reduce with time and a person should consult they provider for information on whether they require a booster.

Chicken Pox (Varicella)

This rash can cause serious consequences especially in children under 12 months, young  adults and pregnant women. This is a life protection vaccine and should not be omitted from a child’s vaccination protocol.

Hepatitis B

Hep B is a liver disease that can be lifelong or last a few weeks. Some symptoms are fever, vomiting, fatigue and a jaundiced look in the eye. Hep B vaccines should be administered in 2 doses 4 weeks apart.

The following are some of the vaccines SmarTest Labs provides and are highly recommended for all individuals:
