Maternity & Paternity
Maternity and Paternity DNA tests determine the relationship between the mother, father and child to determine if an alleged parent is actually the parent. SmarTest Labs also offers a motherless paternity tests to determine if an alleged father is actually the father without the mother being present for testing.
Please note: All NIPP tests have to be conducted between Monday & Thursday.
Three Person DNA Test - Legal
Most often, Paternity DNA Tests are used to determine whether a potential father is an actual father. The Standard Trio Paternity Test is a paternity/maternity DNA Test that takes samples from three participants – the potential father, potential mother, and the child.
- A (Legal) Paternity DNA Test is necessary when results will be admitted in Court as evidence for issues such as adoption, custody, taxes or inheritance, immigration, etc.
Three Person DNA Test Non-Legal

A Maternity DNA Test compares the DNA of a child to the DNA of an alleged mother.
- For legal purposes, a Maternity DNA Test is necessary when results will be used for issues such as adoption, custody, taxes or inheritance, etc.
- If more than one woman claims to be a child’s mother, this maternity test will determine which woman is the biological mother.
Maternity Test Non-Legal
A Maternity DNA Test compares the DNA of a child to the DNA of an alleged mother.
- This is an informational or Non-legal Maternity test that is used to peace of mind.
- If more than one woman claims to be a child’s mother, this maternity test will determine which woman is the biological mother.
Paternity Test - Legal
A Paternity DNA Test compares the DNA between one child and the alleged father to determine if they are the actual father.
● A (Legal) Paternity DNA Test is necessary when results will be admitted in Court as evidence for issues such as adoption, custody, taxes or inheritance, immigration, etc.
● The basic test kit contains collection supplies for 1 child and 1 alleged father.
Paternity Test Non-Legal
A Paternity DNA Test compares the DNA between an Alleged Father and one Child. It is highly recommended that the child’s Mother participate in the test.
● An informational or Non-Legal paternity test is used for informational purposes and is not court admissible.
● The basic test kit contains collection supplies for 1 child and 1 alleged father.
Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity (NIPP)
A Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity (NIPP) test is used to determine the biological father of a fetus. This test is particularly useful for someone who cannot wait until after childbirth to determine who the biological father is.
● A NIPP Test can be performed as early as seven weeks into the pregnancy with 99% or greater accuracy.
● A NIPP Test collection should be scheduled between Monday – Thursday.
