How is the Non-Legal Siblingship DNA Test Performed?
A Siblingship DNA Test is used when two individuals are related to one another. The test compares the DNA from the siblings and compares it to the mother or father and full or half sibling or a non-related sibling. This test is performed using a cheek swab from the 2 individuals.
Who should be involved in the testing process?
This test can also be run without the mother’s participation, although her participation will increase the accuracy of the test. Having one parent involved is highly recommended due to the increase in the accuracy of the test. If a mother is tested with the siblings, the mother’s DNA will be compared to the siblings. The remaining DNA will be the father’s DNA.
It is highly recommended that both parents are involved in the testing process to provide the best results. A missing parent could cause results to be inconclusive.
What do the results show?
The results are based on the various genetic markers that provide a percentage of relationship between individuals. If there is a relationship the percentage will show a 99.999% relationship. However, a percentage less than that will either show a non-relationship or a relationship that cannot be clearly defined.
